Mom's Original Oatmeal Cookies

2 Cups Bacon Grease (or Crisco)
2 Cups Brown Sugar
2 Cups White Sugar
4 Eggs
1 Small Box Old Fashioned Oats (Quick Oats can be used) -- about 3 cups
6 Cups Flour
1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
1 Tablespoon Baking Soda
1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
1 Tablespoon Vanilla
1 12 Ounce Box of Raisins

Preheat oven to 350. Place raisins in a pan and cover with water. Cook raisins on low heat until moist (soft enough to mash with a fork). Drain the water and mash raisins with a fork.

In a bowl mix all ingredients, including the mashed raisins. If using Crisco, instead of Bacon Grease, add 1 to 2 teaspoons of salt. Roll into balls, place on a cookie sheet and push down with a fork. Bake 10 to 14 minutes or until done.

Makes 88 cookies.
